The whispers on the sets of Maddock Films have finally turned into a roar. Today, we can officially confirm the mind-bending plot of Shakti Shalini. In what is being described as her most challenging project to date, Aneet Padda is set to play both the savior and the slayer in a narrative that pulls from the darkest corners of Indian folklore.
Shakti: The Incarnation
Aneet’s first character, Shakti, is a grounded, small-town girl whose life takes a supernatural turn when she discovers she is the human incarnation of Goddess Kali. This role is expected to showcase her transition from vulnerability to divine power, featuring high-octane action sequences that redefine the 'female hero' in the Maddock Universe.
Shalini: The 'Petni' Lore
On the flip side, we have Shalini—the ghost. Drawing heavily from Bengali 'Petni' folklore, Shalini is a vengeful spirit whose presence is felt through a chilling atmosphere of dread. The film sets up a literal battle of "Aneet vs. Aneet," where the actress must balance divine grace with terrifying intensity.
West Bengal in Mumbai: Wrapping up the massive studio leg before heading to Gwalior.
The Catalyst: Vineet’s Dark Turn
Adding to the intensity, Vineet joins the cast as a dark, pivotal character who acts as the catalyst for Shalini’s rampage. His performance is said to be the bridge between the human drama and the supernatural horror, providing the friction that ignites the spirit's vengeance.
Production Status
The team is currently wrapping up the Mumbai leg on a sprawling, detailed West Bengal set designed to capture the authentic vibe of the East Indian lore. In May, the production shifts to Gwalior and Morena for the action-heavy sequences, where the "Kali" avatar of Shakti will truly come to life.
Stay tuned as we bring you more exclusive BTS from the Gwalior schedule next month. The Maddock Horror Universe is about to get its most intense chapter yet.
